Accra, 15th March, 2019. The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia launched the 2019 edition of GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human, at the Media Centre of Accra Sports Stadium. He commended the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), the headline sponsor. He pledged for government’s support with the national oil company as the headline and clothing sponsor. The principal objective of the project is to unearth talents and nurture them to represent Ghana at 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo said by the CEO of GNPC Dr. K’K. Sarpong.
CEO of the Ghana Fastest Human(GFH) project, Reks Brobby, expressed appreciation to the Presidency, saying” We are grateful that His Excellency, President Akufo Addo, honoured us by launching the 2017 edition in his first year in office. He also showed appreciation to their sponsors, GNPC.
The annual championship are held across the country with the regions grouped into zones. The first of the 2019 championship will be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Tamale on the 27th April, 2019 with the grand finale at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on 14th September, 2019.
The select group of talented sprinters the championship produces are put on one-year residential training programme.
