On Friday November 15 2019, the Director-General of National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi on behalf of Hon Isaac Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, joined Hon Dan Botwe, MP for Okre Constituency/Minister for Regional Reorganization to cut sod for the construction of a Multipurpose Sports Centre, intended to enhance sports development in Abiriw and its environ in the Eastern Region
Present at the ceremony were the Traditional Leaders, the DCE and people of the area. The Sports Complex is expected to provide training space to camp our various national teams during their preparations for local and international tournaments. The location is unique for training camp due to the high altitude and serenity of the area. An IT unit is to be attached to the facility for usage by the local youth. Earlier in the day, they visited the Dawu Training park to assess the possibility of NSA adopting it for national sports activities.
