Kumasi Asante Kotoko last Sunday 26th January, 2020 defeated their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak by 2-1 in a fierce encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match day 6 tie in the ongoing Ghana Premier league saw the Phobians start the game on a high note, but Kotoko’s midfielder Justice Blay’s header in the 11th minute put them in an early lead.
Accra Hearts of Oak lifted their game which resulted in Joseph Esso’s header to put the home side at par with the visitors in the 62nd minute. Kotoko once regained their lead at the eleventh hour of the game through a Naby Keita’s penalty kick after teenager Mathew Anim Cudjoe’s strike came off the hands of Hearts defender Mohammed Alhassan in the penalty box. The victory for Asante Kotoko makes them unbeaten in their last five matches with their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
