On Friday September 4, 2020, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah (MP), on behalf of Present Akufo-Addo, performed groundbreaking ceremony to begin reconstruction of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium. This forms part of Government’s broader programme to develop sports infrastructure across the country. This stadium reconstruction, funded by the Middle Belt Development Authority from their one-constituency-one million dollars budget amounts to the tune of 27 Million Ghana Cedis. After completion, Nkawkaw Sports Stadium will have FIFA standard pitch, Olympic standard 8-lanes tracks, multipurpose court, 10,000 spectator seats and hostel facilities.
Present for the ceremony were Eastern Regional Minister, Hon Eric Dafouq, Director General of National Sports Authority, Prof Peter Twumasi, CEO of Middle Belt Development Authority, Hon. Joe Danquah, and his Deputy, Lawyer (Mrs) Joyce Boateng, Nkawkaw MCE, Hon Yaw Owusu Addo, MD for Ghana Publishing Board, Hon David Asante, His Royal Highness Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II, CEO of Green Grass Technology, and Mr Frank Boahen.
