Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister, Hon Mustapha Ussif on Wednesday March 17, 2021 met with all Agency Heads and management members of the National Sports Authority (NSA), National Youth Authority (NYA) and Winneba Sports College (WSC) under the sector ministry in a modest engagement to familiarize with all the units he will be working with.
The Member of Parliament for Yagba/Kubori constituency, whose nomination as the Youth and sports minister was unanimously approved recently by the appointment committee met with the heads and management members of the related sectors as he marshals his team to work in line with President Akufo Addo’s vision for sports.
The meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s press conference room saw in attendance, the Director General of the NSA, Prof. Peter Twumasi, acting Chief Executive Officer of NYA Mr Nelson Owusu Ansah, acting Chief Director of the sports ministry Mr Harisson Sasu as well as reps of Winneba Sports College including some management members of the various agencies.
The heads of the agencies had separate presentations on the mandates and current state of the units they lead. During their presentations, they brought to the attention of the minister, Hon Mustapha Ussif ongoing sports and youth related projects and programs highlighting where the ministry’s support will be needed.
On his part, the minister thanked the agency heads and staff at the ministry for guiding him during his vetting and subsequent swearing-in. After showing appreciation, he assured them of his commitment to work with all in a harmonious manner through the spirit of team work.
The minister in his closing remarks further pledged that, his doors are opened to welcome ideas and contributions, calling on the agencies to bring their hands on deck as they work to achieve a common goal.
