This morning, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority organized a workshop to discuss a proposed Operational Guidelines for Sports Federations and Associations before the passage of Legislative Instrument (LI) by Parliament to fully operate the Sports Act, 2016 (Act 934) which deals with regulation of the entire sporting industry.
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports(MOYS), Alhaji Hafiz Adam, Director General of the National Sports Authority(NSA), Prof Peter Twumasi, NSA Deputy Director General (Admin), Alhaji Majeed Bawa, NSA Deputy Director General (Technical), Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr, President of GOC, Mr Nunoo Mensah, President of NPC, Mr Sampson Deen, the leadership of various Sports Federations and Associations, senior officers from the Ministry and the National Sports Authority, and other partners in sports were present for the deliberations.
The discussion led by Dr Bella Bello Bitugu, University of Ghana’s Director of Sports, was done in plenary and in smaller groups to fine-tune the draft document. The final document is expected to be launched and serve as a guide to all stakeholders in sports in Ghana.
