On Wednesday, 30th June 2021, The National Sports Authority(NSA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports(MOYS) organized a delightful departure ceremony for the Ghanaian Tokyo Olympic Games contingent as they flew from the Kotoka International Airport to Japan.
The Team bus was led by Police Dispatch riders through the principal streets of Accra. Earlier, the contingent accompanied by various administrators of sports received blessings of President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
In all, 14 athletes from five disciplines (athletics, boxing, judo, weightlifting and swimming) have qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to represent Ghana. Present at the Airport to see the team off were Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical), Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr, Chief Accountant of NSA and Member of International Games and Competitions Committee (IGCC), Mr Salisu Omaru and the Head Coach of the boxing team, Mr Ofori Asare.
