NSA Boss & Government Delegation Meet Ghana’s Olympic Contingent Ahead of Opening Ceremony

Ghana Government delegation at the Tokyo Olympic Games led by the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi met and interacted with the athletes and Technical Team of Ghana’s Olympic contingent after arrival in Tokyo.

The meeting with the athletes and officials, which took place late on Thursday July 22, 2021 was to assess the performance of the athletes from their pre-games camp in Inawashiro to their current location at the Games Village in Tokyo.

The Chef De Mission, Mr Michael Aggrey who is also President of Ghana Golf Association and a member of the Ghana Olympics Committee expressed his satisfaction and was full of praise for the support received from the Government of Ghana.

He also acknowledged the impact of the Japanese people especially the mayor of Inawashiro, Mr. Hiroshi Zongo, who has contributed to Ghana’s smooth stay in Japan.

The team made up of fourteen (14) athletes competing in five disciplines, and officials will at 11am GMT participate in the official opening ceremony of the global competition.

Present at the briefing were Secretary General of GOC, Mr Mohammed Shanoon, MOYS representative, Ms Francisca Atuluk, Vice President of GAA, Mr Afelibiek Ababu, President of Ghana Judo, Mr Emmanuel Gidisu Tetteh, CLO Capt Haruna Adamu, and Team Attache/Japanese interpreter, Mr Seyram.

On his part, the Director General of the NSA, Prof Peter Twumasi, thanked the technical team on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, and Government of Ghana for the dedicated service.

He also commended Ghana’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Frank Okyere and his team for their exceptional support rendered to the Ghanaian contingent.
