On 25th August 2021, the former Super Bantamweight World Champion, Isaac Dogboe and his team paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi to show appreciation for the support he received during his bout within a short notice.
He informed Prof. Twumasi of his upcoming bout and appealed for support ahead of the event. Mr Dogboe indicated that, “a lot of athletes have vision and once their minds are made up anything is possible “hence he believes if the youth are given the needed platform and focus, despite the challenges they may encounter, they will sail through. He further stated that talent should be identified from the grassroots since there are more of his kinds nationwide.
Mr Dogboe commended the Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for embarking on infrastructural development,which,will also provide the needed platform for sports developments. He equally shares in the success of Samuel Takyi,Ghana’s Olympic medalist in the just ended Tokyo 2020 Olympic games and is hopeful of better days ahead.
Prof Twumasi was impressed with the high performance in boxing at the just ended 2020 Tokyo Olympic games , which projected the flag of Ghana very high. He expressed appreciation for the gesture and assured Dogboe of the Authority’s readiness to support his project,as and when the need arises.
The Acting Deputy Director General, (Technical), Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr, the Head of PR (NSA), Charles Amofah and the PRO for Dogboe, Nana Akyere Agyarko were present during the visit.
