The National Sports Authority’s secretariat in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region has today 10th September, 2021 embarked on a clean up exercise at the Oda sports stadium in collaboration with an Oda based non-governmental organization called the BaaMensa FOUNDATION.
The foundation’s membership and a section of occupants of the stadium land all joined in the close to 4 hours clean up exercise.
According to the Executive Director of the foundation, Kwame Baa Mensa ” it is part of our social responsibilities to team up with the National sports Authority, oda to promote and develop sports in the Municipality and also to encourage the youth of the community to embrace sports for fitness and career prospects ” He further assured that the exercise shall be carried out periodically until it becomes a norm and a cooperation reached between the community and the Authority.
Present at the event were Assembly members, and opinion leaders of all Shades.
The Municipal sports Director of NSA Mr Raphael Akoto on his part thanked the BaaMensa FOUNDATION members and appealed for total support and cooperation from all to impact on their mandate of sports development in the area.
He thanked the BaaMensa FOUNDATION for donating sets of cutlasses, rakes, sweeping brooms and Weedisites for keeping the stadium tidy.
He further reiterated the readiness of the Regional Directorate to host successfully the 2022 National cross country Competition at Akim Oda.
