Ghana National Rugby Union Calls On Director General Of The National Sports Authority

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, the President of the Ghana National Rugby Union, Mr. Hebert Mensah together with his team paid an official visit to the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof.
Peter Twumasi on their upcoming pre-world qualifiers.

The visit was to formally seek the support of the Director General to provide them with facilities; the Accra Sports Stadium to stage their tournament.

It must be noted that, the tournament is expected to take place from the 27th to 28th November.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hebert disclosed that, this is one of the biggest event set to take place across the continent of Africa so it must be regarded as such.

He further revealed that, 18 teams are expected to take part in the upcoming event including teams like Cote D’voire, Mali and others.

Mr. Hebert Mensah mentioned that, the event will equally take place across the continent in different zones; southern zone, Northern zone, and the Central zone.

He was positive that the coaches and players are fairing well with preparation ahead of the tournament but pleaded with the Authority to make its facility readily available for them to hold training sessions ahead of the competition.

On his part, Prof. Peter Twumasi, the NSA Boss applauded the team for their performances and efforts so far and also, encouraged them to do better.

The Director General however affirmed his willingness to provide every support to the team and advised them to ensure they meet all requirement with regards to the covid 19 protocols.

According to Prof.Twumasi, the President has interest in promoting sports for national development, this he believes tournament of this kind will as well impact the economy and bring positive image to the sports industry.

Prof. Twumasi in his closing remarks called for an immediate local organizing committee to be set up and then approved the Deputy Director General-Technical, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr to be part of the team in order to ensure smooth and effective planning.
