President Akufo-Addo receives the Queen’s Baton Relay

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo today October 25th received the Queen’s Baton relay at the Jubilee House. It was all joy when the president received the Queen’s Baton Relay at the Jubilee House in Accra from the president of the Commonwealth Games Association Ghana, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah. This paves way for the two-day Queen’s Baton Relay event to be held in Accra, Tema and the Ashanti region on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The president being the first gentleman of the land to received the Queens Baton then handed it over to the Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare who also handed it over to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif who jogged with it to the entrance of the Jubilee House. He then handed the baton to his able assistant, Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Evans Opoku Bobie.

He also jogged with it from the entrance of the Jubilee House for some minutes. He also handed it over the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi who also jogged with it for a while and officially handed it over to the president of the Commonwealth Games Association of Ghana Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah at the Afrikiko Junction. Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah in the company of the Commonwealth Games Panning Committee held it to a reception at the residence of the British High Commissioner to Ghana.

The Baton is expected to leave Ghana on October 28th to Cameroon, it’s next destination among the 72 nations of Commonwealth
