14th Edition of the Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship

14th Edition of the Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship took off on Saturday,23rd October,2021, at the National Theatre from 7pm-11:30pm.

The Ag.Deputy Director General-Technical,Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr represented the Director General of the National Sports Authority,Prof.Peter Twumasi at the annual event which was organized by the Ghana Bodybuilding &Fitness Association (GBFA)to select deserving winners from the National team called the Black Muscle.

The winners will be representing Ghana at the Championship of the International Federation of Bodybuilding IFBB to be held at Parc Colomer Sports Center in Santa Susanna,Barcelona Spain from the 3rd to 8th of November,2021. In all, 25 athletes will be selected in The Black Muscles to represent the Nation in other international competition in 2022.

This year’s event was budgeted at Gh.35,000 mainly contributions from executives making 80% and sponsorship from Twellium industry,Producers of Mcberry Buscuits and Verna water . Somocco Ghana limited equally supported with 5 motorcycles to winners from the various categories .Fitness 1 Gym and Fitrip also provided the athletes with outfit to train before,during and after the event.

44 athletes(5 females,39 males) participated under these categories namely;
Men’s Light Weight Bodybuilding,Men’s Middle Weight Bodybuilding,Men’s Heavy weight Bodybuilding,Men’s Physique above 176cm,Men’s Physique below 176cm, and the Female Physique.

Godwin Frimpong was crowned overall best bodybuilder (Man Ghana) after winning the championship in 2019, and 2020; whiles Lawal Badmos was crowned Best Men’s Physique Athlete and Celestine Dogbeda also taking the Best Female Bikini Athlete.

Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association ,used the occasion to seek for financial support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority with 150,000gh for their yearly activities.

Some Dignitaries present at the event was Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah-President,Ghana Olympics Committee, Mr Isaac Duah – Member,Ghana Olympics Committee, Shankar Sharma,General Manager of Somoco Ghana Limited.
