This tournament was organised on the 3rd to 4th February, 2022 in Niger. It had 10 countries participating. The participating countries were Nigeria, Ghana, Niger, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, among others.
The Ghanaian Para Taekwondo athletes that represented, participated so well that they won laurels for the team and the country. Emmanuel Kofi Turkson (weight 70kg) class K44, won a Gold medal. Patricia Shaban (weight 65kg) class K44 won a Gold medal. Last but not least, Adizatu Shaban also won Bronze medal for the country.
The Coach for the female team, George K Ablometi was awarded the Best Coach with a trophy for his diligence and hardwork during the tournament.
The Team Ghana Para Taekwondo Athletes, won a Trophy for being the 3rd position amongst the ten (10) countries that participated.
On Thursday, 9th June, 2022, some executives of the Para Taekwondo Athletes Federation paid a courtesy call to the Director General (Prof. Peter Twumasi) of the National Sports Authority. Their purpose was to present their laurels.
The DG, congratulated the Para Taekwondo Athletes and commended the team.
He was delighted in their efforts and dedication. He urged them to continue with the good work and advised that, they practice more to achieve more goals.
He again, mentioned that, such achievement serves as motivation to the disabled in the societies hence, they continue to strive.
Prof. Peter Twumasi, on behalf of the National Sports Authority, gave the Para Taekwondo Federation a token of ten thousand Ghana cedi (10,000gh). He mentioned that, it is his way of supporting and encouraging them to win more laurels for the nation Ghana.
The President and his able team, expressed their appreciation and assured the Authority and the Ministry more laurels and best Para Taekwondo Champions.
