Afro Sport 22 Organises An African Sport Summit

The Afro Sport 22 organised a summit dubbed “Connecting Science and Business” at the Accra International Conference Centre yesterday, August 11, 2022.

The purpose of the summit was to discuss various topics of continental importance in sports and also bring together major Sport stakeholders in Africa.

The summit saw many astute football trained personnels and dignitaries who spoke about how to develop and promote sports, football to be precise in Africa for both male and female.

Dr. Anthony Baffoe, (General Secretary, Professional Footballers Association of Ghana) gave the opening address.

In his keynote address, he congratulated the Black Princesses for their hardwork and excellent display during the FIFA U20 Women Worldcup Qualifiers and for qualifying to the FIFA U-20 Women’s Worldcup Championship to happen in Costa rica. He also urged them to continue the good work.

He welcomed everyone present and thanked the organizers of the Summit.

He also explained that, the purpose of the summit was to discuss and deliberate on the need of connecting science and business in sports.

He further urged stakeholders to include more women in sports in other to develop women football.

Dr. Anthony Baffoe disclosed that, Sports and Education can be used as a tool for development, hence the need to study sports related courses to help achieve great impact on sports and development in Africa

He ended his address by advising the organizers and stakeholders to work with the right people to ensure development in the right direction.

Speakers like Dr. Enoch Baah (Head of Education Training & Research Unit, NSA) Dr. Prince Pambo, (CAF Medical Committee Member & Fifa Doping Control Officer), Cynthia Mumbo (Founder & CEO, Sports Connect Africa) spoke on topics pertaining to the role of education and science in sport development, expanding the sports business table in Africa and some others.

All speakers present at the summit deliberated on different ways to improve, modernise and popularise sports for development in Africa.
