Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi has declared the Baba Yara Sports Stadium ready, ahead of the upcoming football season. This follows an inspection exercise he conducted at the facility on Wednesday.
Following the end of the 2021/22 season, the famous Kumasi Sports Stadium was subjected to minor renovation works to improve its aesthetics in order to meet the required international standard.
The NSA Boss, as part of his nationwide tour made a stop in Kumasi, where he inspected the facility ahead of the commencement of 2022/23 Ghana premier league on Friday.
Prof Peter Twumasi visited the outskirts of the stadium, the dressing rooms, the various offices and finally the pitch where he was impressed greatly about the greenish nature of the pitch.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Prof Twumasi indicated, Kumasi is the center of sports in Ghana, hence, it’s important the NSA works earnestly to ready the facility at all times for football games.
The NSA Boss commended officers of the Ashanti Regional Directorate led by Regional Director, Emmanuel Kojo Appiah for the enviable work they have done to enhance the edifice.
He pleaded with Ghanaians who will patronize the stadium during sports competition to take good care of the facility as that will guarantee the longevity of the multipurpose sports stadium in Kumasi.
The NSA Boss during the inspection was in the company of staff of NSA-Ashanti.
