The Exexutive Secretary to the President of Ghana, Nana Asante Bediatuo has launched the 10th Edition of Ghana’s Fastest Human at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Race which is held annually is aimed at unearthing and nurturing talents for Major local and International Competitions.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary to the President noted that the concept behind the Race was to create a brand that will make athletics and sprinting an attractive sport to encourage mass participation.
He added that the event is well structured to motivate athletes compete at international standards seen in Jamaica, the United States of America and the world over.
Nana Bediatuo further applauded the organizers of the race for recognising past sports legends who paved the way for the younger generation and encouraged the youth to take inspiration from their performances.
Touching on the contribution of the programme to Ghana Sports, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi credited Ghana’s win at the 2019 Athletics Championship in Morroco to the Ghana’s Fastest Project.
He applauded the organisers of the event for their efforts in sustaining the Project till it’s 10th year.
Prof. Twumasi also expressed his appreciation to the President of the Land for the infrastructure development towards the African Games, adding that the facilities when completed would boost sports develoment and Athletes performance.
Some Dignatries present at the Launch was the Executive Secretary to the Local Organising Committee(LOC) for the 2023 African Games, Mr Reks Brobby, the Brain behind Ghana’s Fastest Human and Retired Justice Stephen Alan Brobby who was the Chairman for the Launch.
The first round of the 10th edition will take place on 29th April, 2023 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
