The contingent from the just ended CAA Region II Senior Athletics Championship in Lomé, Togo have called on the Director General of National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi to present their laurels.
The delegation led by Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Appiah and Mr. Bawa Fusseni Secretary General of the federation presented twenty-four Medals comprised of fourteen gold, eight silver and two bronze.
Speaking at the brief meeting, the Secretary General, Mr. Bawa disclosed that the Association has secured a sponsorship deal with the French embassy to camp the athletes in France ahead of the world championship.
He noted that, the team have not had any external exposure prior to their competition, nevertheless, they delivered an outstanding performance.
He used the opportunity to thank the technical team and the Director General for his immense support to the Federation.
The coach for the team, Mr.Appiah Kubi, introduced Sandra K. Asibuo and Janet Mensah who came 1st and 2nd in the women 100m finals of 11.82sec and 11.82sec (wind -0.5) respectively to win Gold 🥇 and Silver 🥈 for Ghana.
On his part, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi congratulated the team on their success.
He recognized the leadership of the federation for their hard work to stay relevant within the sporting space to make Ghana proud.
He added that, the Authority will support with its facilities and the technical team at every level.
Prof. Peter Twumasi noted that, by the great output, the federation will get the attention and support from corporate bodies and government.
He urged the athletes to put in their best to make the nation proud at the international front.
