Ashanti Regional Director of NSA Welcomes French Embassy Officials On The Solidarity Fund For Innovative Project

On Wednesday, staff of Ashanti Regional Directorate of NSA led by Regional Director Emmanuel Kojo Appiah welcomed some officials of the Embassy of France for a discussion of mutual interest.

This comes after the National Sports Authority formally signed a contract to begin the French Government’s awarded Solidarity Fund for Innovative Project (FSPI) in Ghana.

The project set to be executed in the West African country will involve partners and researchers from the University of Ghana and Sports Associations will be the major beneficiaries.

Project Coordinator at the embassy, Nada Mills disclosed that, the French Embassy will fund the project but will work closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as NSA.

She noted, the embassy through this project will help conduct research on the role of sports in contributing to Ghana’s GDP.

She indicated, capacity building programs will be organized for staff and technical persons as part of the collaborative efforts to improve sports in Ghana.

These programs will provide staff with the needed support and enhance their training skills of the various disciplines.

Heads of the related Departments at NSA-Ashanti, Ghana Football Association rep, Ghana Athletics Association rep, were part of the meeting to deliberate on the challenges they face in their line of work to unearth sports talents.

Deputy Director General of NSA in charge of administration, Mr Majid Bawa led the delegation from the French Embassy during their visit to Kumasi.

He acknowledged the importance of this initiative and how it will contribute to the development of sports.

The officials toured some units of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium including the Gym, Hockey park, Tennis court and the Heroes park.

Other officials of the embassy were Sean Gandrille and Gabriele Gazzato. Osei Tutu Agyemang, GFA RFA Chairman of Ashanti represented the GFA while Patrick Lartey represented GAA.
