Ashanti Regional Directorate of National Sports Authority (NSA) on Thursday unveiled the Association Of Para Track, Field & Powerlifting of Ashanti.
The inauguration was done and led by Regional Director, Emmanuel Kojo Appiah.
The delegation of the Association Of Para Track, Field & Powerlifting of Ashanti was also led by Board Chairman Dr Ike Donkor and its President Benjamin Annor.
The short ceremony took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi to officially welcome the association and to be recognized under NSA-Ashanti.
The Association Of Para Track, Field & Powerlifting of Ashanti shall now be the recognized body in Ashanti responsible for mobilizing and the organization of competitions involving physically challenged athletes in Ashanti Region.
In his keynote address, Emmanuel Kojo, NSA Boss of Ashanti stressed, NSA is responsible for the development of all sporting disciplines across the country reason, the Authority has approved the Para Association to be in charge of physically challenged sports in the region.
He added, NSA will be readily available to support the organization of programs and competitions in whichever format to ensure, the Association effectively implements its mandates which in the end will aid the development of sports in Ghana.
He congratulated the leadership for their exceptional contribution towards the association and the commitment they have shown over the past years in supporting the athletes.
He encouraged the para athletes to stay united and be fixated on training hard to ensure, they deliver for the region and the country at large at any competition.
On his part, Board Chairman of the Association Of Para Track, Field & Powerlifting Ashanti Region thanked the NSA for opening their doors to the association.
He assured the Regional Boss of NSA of massive collaboration with the Authority in order for them to successfully execute their mandates and responsibilities without any blemish to achieve success.
