Loughborough University to Start Sports Education in Ghana. 

Loughborough University officials met with federation heads on Monday 27th June 2024 at the Labadi Beach Hotel to dialogue on collaboration opportunities for the sports industry in Ghana. 

In his presentation, the Vice President of Loughborough University, Prof Nick Jennings highlighted on the credentials of the University and indicated that the school is one of the best sports science institutes since its establishment spanning over a century. He noted that the University is currently partnering Radford University in Ghana, in order to rollout the course which is expected to enhance the performance of our sports industry.

In his keynote address, the Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority, who represented the Minister for Youth and Sports used the occasion to welcome the officials of Loughborough University and noted that this collaboration has come at a time that the Government had undertaken massive sports infrastructural development, which made it possible for Ghana to host the 13th African Games successfully, a couple of months ago. He also stated that these new sports infrastructure, especially the Borteyman Sports Complex, is expected to be transformed into a University for Sports Development and Sciences. 

He emphasized the need to use this collaboration between the two aforementioned institutions to build a network of resources and contacts for further sports developmental projects. He also stated that a similar collaboration with the French Government is ongoing, in our final preparation towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Federation Heads and Officials present also had the opportunity to ask questions during the meeting.

Other speakers at the event include the GFA President, Mr Kurt Okraku, Dr Martin Luther of Radford University, the General Secretary for the Ghana Olympic Committee, Lawyer Mohammed Shanoon among other personalities.
