The Director-General of The National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi has reiterated his support for the development of least financed sports in the country.
He made this known during a medal presentation ceremony by Keta based beach soccer team “Sunset Sport” at the media centre of the Accra Sports Stadium. Professor Twumasi congratulated the team and the Beach Soccer Association and also called for more attention to be given to the least financed sports in their quest to develop and promote the various disciplines as we prepare to host The African Games in 2023.
He further encouraged all stakeholders to put in much effort to ensure that more of our Ghanaian traditional games will be developed and promoted in other neighbouring countries in order to project the good image of Ghana. Professor Twumasi on behalf of the National Sports Authority (N.S.A) pledged an amount of GH¢5,000.00 to The Beach Soccer Association and Sun Sports club.
The President of the Beach Soccer Association Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah thanked the National Sports Authority for their support to activities of Beach Soccer. He further stated that with support coming from other stakeholders, Beach Soccer teams will win more laurels in subsequent tournaments.
The “Sunset Sport” club of Keta defeated Gidi Sharks of Nigeria to emerge winners of the Beach Soccer African club of Champions 2019 in Nigeria.
