Some Officials from the Covid-19 task force of the Ghana Health Service on Thursday 8th October, 2020 paid a working visit to the National Sports Authority at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The visit, according to Mabel Tetteh Naa, a member of GHSs’ Health Promotion Division, was to assess the readiness of the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of the upcoming Ghana premier league football season in this era of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She informed the NSA Covid-19 taskforce team that, the Ghana Health Service together with Ghana Football Association, will undertake a disinfection exercise at the Accra sport stadium and all other sporting venues that will be used for the for the upcoming premier league matches. She also noted that GHS will make provisions for adequate “veronica” buckets, detergents and hand sanitizers for the 25% of spectators who per H.E the President’s directive will be allowed during match days to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The Chairman of NSA Covid-19 taskforce, Mr. Jeffery Manzan Owusu also assured the officials from the GHS of his team’s preparedness to liaise with the various clubs to make sure their players and technical handlers adhere strictly to the safety measures that will be put in place.
