The National Sports Authority today interacted with the media on the preparation for the upcoming National Cross-country event. The event which was revived in 2019 after nearly a decade of inactivity, is this year to be held at Sefwi-Wiawso in the newly created Western North Region of Ghana which will showcase 192 athletes from the 16 regions, according to the Chairman of the LOC, Mr. Kwame Baa Mensa.
The Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi in his address indicated that the Authority aims to coordinate cross-country and other long-distance athletic events at all districts on the same date in the future, similar to the celebration of national events like Farmers’ Day.
This he believes will offer opportunities to all potential runners in the country as well as for the promotion of health through mass sports. He praised the Government of H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo for the massive sports infrastructural development across the country to facilitate sports development and promotion.
The competition will take place next week from 18th to 20th February 2021.
All the best to the 192 participant.
