Prof. Peter Twumasi Inaugurates LOC For The Accra And The Can Hockey Tournament

On Thursday 9th September, 2021 at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi, inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Ghana Hockey Association to supervise the hosting of Club Championship and The Continental Nations Cup in December 2021 and January 2022.

The Vice President of the Ghana Hockey Association, Madam Elizabeth King who represented the President Dr. Ben Asante indicated their plans on hosting the upcoming international tournaments; African Cup Of Club Champions (ACCC) and Africa Cup Of Nations (ACN) which will be held in December 2021 and January 2022 respectively.
She stated that, the two tournaments will involve other African countries like Uganda, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and some others countries as well.

She further explained that, Ghana has a newly renovated Hockey Stadium (Theodosia Okoh National Hockey Stadium) which is in a suitable condition to host these tournaments and specified the benefits it would bring to the country.
On his part, Director General of the NSA, Prof. Peter Twumasi expressed his gratitude to the members of the committee for having such an innovative thought for the Hockey Association.

He stated, he is impressed with how all the other federations in the sporting fraternity are coming up with great ideas to build the sports industry and the nation. He added that, President Nana Akufo-Addo is also doing his best to contribute largely to the sports industry which is why, he has promised to build a multi-functional sports infrastructure in every region in Ghana.


The NSA boss noted that, some sporting facilities are all undergoing renovation works and would be soon completed for a better sporing environment. He applauded the leadership of the board members for making efforts to bid continental tournaments and mentioned how profitable it will be to the country. Prof. Peter Twumasi concluded with a concrete assurance to the Committee of his and the minister’s support in any way to help promote the hockey federation.
