Director General Of NSA Appreciates Badminton Association Of Ghana With A Sum Of Ghc10,000

The Badminton Association of Ghana received a warm welcome from the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi after a successful competition in Benin when they called on him at his office in Accra on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021.

The President of the Badminton Association of Ghana, Mr. Evans Yeboah and his able Secretary-General, Madam Agnes Abefe with other executive members, as well as the badminton players paid a courtesy call on the Director General of NSA to present to him and his board medals they won at the All African Under -15 Badminton Championship which took place in Benin.

Mr. Yeboah revealed that Team Ghana presented a total of 23 athletes and returned home with 18 Bronze medals and one Silver medal which is a very remarkable feat in the history of sports in Ghana. Interestingly, 13-year-old Rachael Quarcoo won the admiration of the Benin Badminton Federation with an outstanding performance in the competition.

Prof. Twumasi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the team for making Ghana proud by displaying this high-spirited performance during the competition. He stated that their competitive outing and skills displayed will go a long way to have a positive influence on Badminton within the African continent. He further stated that the current Government is taking the least financed sports very seriously and he is hopeful that this will be a great start towards the preparations and hosting of the 2023 African Games. He added that sports is now an important avenue for job creation and they must consider themselves very lucky for being part of this illustrious team. The Director General admonished them to take their training very seriously and avoid traits that will negatively affect their performance.

He was also full of praise to His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, for putting up multipurpose sporting facilities and also renovating the existing dilapidated ones into a more purposeful and modern facilities which will go a long way to develop our sporting activities, with regards to unearthing of talents for future games. In showing appreciation to the team, Prof. Twumasi rewarded them with a sum of GHC10,000 and called on corporate organizations to come on board to support the least financed Sporting Associations, so as to provide them with the needed resources for them to win more laurels for Ghana.

Mr. Evans Yeboah together with the team captain thanked Prof. Peter Twumasi and pledged their total support and commitment to the ideals of the Authority.
