Mr, Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, Acting (Ag.) Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) on Friday, September 24, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ms. Mary Owusu Afriyie at her office in Kumasi.
The visit was amongst other things to introduce himself as the newly appointed Ag. Regional Director and then also, to discuss matters of mutual interest between the GES and the NSA.
The GES Director, Ms. Mary Owusu Afriyie in her initial remarks welcomed the delegation from the NSA and assured the Authority that, her office will be working closely with the stadium authorities when the ban on sporting activities is finally lifted.
She noted, the GES through sporting activities have produced a good number of talents for the Authority and the country at large, hence both parties must pay keen attention and work hand in hand for the organization of sporting activities for students.
The GES have over the years used the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi for its Inter-School competitions aimed at unearthing potentials for Ghana however, regrettable losses have been incurred as a result of agitated students destroying properties including but not limited to the spectators seats at the stadium during games, something the NSA is taking steps and measures to forestall future occurrences.
So on his part, the Ag. Director of NSA Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, who worked with the GES as the Sports Coordinator for Sekyere East District for eight years before joining the NSA urged the GES through the Regional Director for a joint effort with the NSA to embark on initiatives that will prevent such untoward acts by the students.
Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Appiah was in the company of Mrs Linda Adarkwa Yiadom, the Regional Administrator, Mrs Patience Sharon Adams Mensah-Regional Public Relations Officerduring the visit.
