The President of Squash Federation of Africa, Dr Lucky Mlilo, from Zimbabwe on Thursday September 30, 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Director General of National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi as part of his five-day visit to Ghana.
Dr Lucky Mlilo, who discussed a number of issues with the NSA Boss was accompanied by Ghana’s President for Squash Association, Rev Richmond Quarcoo, who doubles as Secretary General of the African Squash Federation where its secretariat is currently relocated to Ghana.
The Squash Federation of Africa President, Mlilo is leading negotiations with Ghana’s Sports Authorities to include Squash as a sports discipline among the number of disciplines slated for the 2023 African Games. He will also visit the Secretariat of the continental body in Ghana for the first time.
In his opening remarks, he thanked the Government of Ghana for hosting the Secretariat of the federation which is the first time it has been relocated to Ghana.
Dr Lucky Millo, who is expected to play several ceremonial games across the country, also pledged his support for Ghana in the development of Squash from the grassroots level to professional level.
On his part, the Director General of NSA, Porf. Peter Twumasi assured the Zimbabwean of Ghana’s commitment and support to make sure, the Secretariat will run effectively.
The NSA Boss also assured Dr Millo that, his request will be forwarded to the Sector Minister, Hon Mustapha Ussif, and was hopeful that it would receive positive response considering the minimal cost of squash competitions.
Present during the meeting were Deputy Director General (Technical), Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr and other Heads of Department.
