Ashanti Region Inaugurates Five Member Sub-Committee For 2022 National Cross Country

Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, Ag. Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) on Friday, October 01, 2021 led a brief meeting to inaugurate a Five Member Sub-Committee to prepare athletes from the Ashanti Region for the 2022 National Cross Country to be held in Akim Oda.

Mr Joseph Acquah will serve as the chairman of the Sub-Committee inaugurated. The other members include Madam Philomena K. Buckman, Patrick Lartey, Michael Okoto and Mr Kofi Adu of the NSA.

The Ashanti Regional Ag. Director of NSA, Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah in his inaugural speech highlighted the work of the Sub-Committee where he indicated, the five member team is basically in charge of the Region’s preparation for a successful 2022 National Cross Country in the Eastern Region.

Mr. Appiah also assured the subcommittee of the NSA’s unflinching support throughout the preparatory period ahead of the competition in order to make sure, Ashanti Region gets the best of athletes to compete in the 10km event for the ultimate prize.

Sports Committee Chairman of Ashanti Region, Mr. Samuel Ampadu Kyei who was present during the induction charged the subcommittee to deliver its mandate diligently to meet the set targets of ensuring, Ashanti Region emerges victorious during the nationwide competition.

He further tasked them to submit its first report which must capture plans, activities and budget for preparation by October 15, 2021.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Ampadu appealed to all stakeholders to offer their support to the Ashanti region as they make initiatives to excel and conquer the rest of the country at the 2022 Cross Country.

The Chairman of the subcommittee, Mr Joseph Acquah on his part thanked the Ag. Regional NSA Director and the Regional Sports Committee Chairman for reposing confidence in the members. He pledged, the experienced members on the subcommittee will work audaciously to mobilize the best athletes from the region for the competition.

The National Cross-Country, which is aimed at unearthing talented athletes and grooming them to represent Ghana during international competitions was held for the first time in 2019 and will see about 200 athletes take part in next year’s edition.
