Acting (Ag.) Ashanti Regional Director of National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Appiah on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 continued his tour of some of selected Senior High Schools in the Ashanti region to engage key stakeholders on plans to introduce the new Rugby League in the region.

Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, who was in the company of Rugby coach of Ashanti Region Mr Julius Amevor and the Accountant Mr. George Baswa made his first stop at T.I. Ahmadiya Senior High School (AMASS) where the team was received by Headmaster of the school, Alhaji Yakub .A.B. Abubakar and his assistant Mr. Ahmed K. Boampong.

The Ag. Regional Director of NSA told the Headmaster that, when it comes to sports in the second cycle institutions, AMASS cannot be left out and that’s why they have been selected to be part of the first batch to be introduce to the Rugby League.

In the Headmaster’s remark, he indicated that, during Olympic Games, one could see varieties of sporting disciplines being participated by other countries but Ghana as a country only participate in a few, hence this idea to pilot the Rugby League is well embraced.

He also added, the Rugby League initiative will open up for Ghanaians to welcome more sporting disciplines and maybe Ghanaians may be very good at these new disciplines and win medals to replace other sporting discipline we fall short.

The NSA team then visited Armed Forces Senior Technical School, where they were received by the Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Thomas Afari Yeboah and the Head of Physical Education, Madam Rita Berfi and her team.

Discussion of the introduction of the new Rugby League was held as well and the leadership of the school embraced it.

Madam Rita told the NSA team that, they have a lot of young men and women who will be delighted to hear the good news and she was grateful, Rugby League will be introduced to her team.
