NSA, MOYS organizes a Stakeholder engagement on the Draft of the Legislative Instrument.

The National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, today, October 15, 2021 organizes a stakeholders meeting to deliberate on the draft of the legislative instrument for the Sports Act 934.

The draft is meant to elaborate on the Sports Act, which serves as an operational tool that explains the procedures and approaches within the main Act. The Legislative instrument will serve as a supporting or subsidiary document to the main Act.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon.Mustapha Ussif in his opening address, acknowledged persons present before proceeding with his submissions. He stated that the Legislative instrument will give some form of identity to the sporting fraternity and provide meaning to the Act by defining its operations and procedure. He believes sports binds people regardless of their religious background or political affiliation and therefore remains positive that the LI will ease the challenges that sports has been facing and will provide the opportunity to nurture and inculcate discipline within the various sporting federations and association.

Stakeholders from the various Federations and Associations were engaged to deliberate on some pressing matters through group discussions. Input were gathered and presented by the groups.These inputs from the groups will be considered by the consultant and brought before management for further actions to be worked on.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof .Peter Twumasi took turns to address some of the challenges and comments from representatives of the federation and association.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Alhaji Hafiz Adams, stated in his closing remarks that the Consultant are still open for submission of report which will go through the necessary procedures for an effective implementation.
