Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, the Acting (Ag.) Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) on Wednesday October 20, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Mponua district, Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo at his office in Nhyinahin.
The purpose of the meeting amongst other things was to officially introduce himself as the new Ag. Regional Director of NSA and also, to inspect development of the Nyinahin Sports Stadium to get first hand assessment of the multipurpose sports facility.
Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah was accompanied by George Basuwa-Regional Accountant, Oheneba Owusu Ansah-Principal Executive Officer and Stephen Afful-PR Department during the visit.
The DCE, Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo who was holding his first general assembly meeting since his confirmation welcomed the NSA’s delegation to the meeting and called on the Ag. Regional Director to address the assembly members of the district on the purpose of his visit.
In his initial remarks, Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo congratulated Mr Appiah on his new appointment as the Regional NSA Boss and also, encouraged Mr Appiah to work with higher level of professionalism and dedication as sports, when harnessed serves as a tool for development in the society.
The team after the engagement at the District Assembly went to inspect the Nyinahin Sports Stadium that is under construction. The sports edifice at Atwima Mponua features a 5000 seating capacity stadium, football pitch, volleyball, handball, basketball, tennis court, ICT office, restaurant, shops, etc.
During the visit at the stadium, Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo noted that, the Nyinahin Sports Stadium when commissioned for usage, will provide employment opportunities for the youth in the district hence, he will plead with the NSA to engage government to expedite the construction of the multipurpose sports complex to aid sports development.
On his part, the Ag. Regional NSA Director, Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah assured the DCE and his assembly, he will forward situational report of the facility and engage the relevant stakeholders to ensure, the project is completed for usage by the community.
He however advised, the district assembly should serve as overseers when the stadium is finally completed and uphold the appropriate maintenance culture to make sure, the facility is always in a good shape.
The construction of the Nyinahin Sports Stadium forms part of the government’s agenda of building state of the art sports infrastructural facilities across the country to aid unearthing of talents.
