The Director-General of National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi together with his able deputies, welcomed the newly elect president of the African Paralympic Committee, Mr. Sampson Deen and the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Bobie at the Kotoka International Airport earlier today. Mr. Sampson Deen is the President for the National Paralympic Committee and now doubles as the President for African Paralympic Committee.
Mr. Sampson Deen in his address expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo for endorsing his candidature for the just ended African Paralympic Committee election at Morocco. He explained that, the battle was between Ghana and Morocco but with the immense support of President Akufo Addo and the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Bobie, Ghana won the election.
He stated that, he almost stepped down but with the help of Hon. Evans Bobie and our brothers from the West Africa Summit present at the election grounds, he was able to pull through and emerged winner. He pledged to work diligently and live up to the expectation of the position given to him. He stated he is ready to serve well and ensure that inclusiveness is at the prime of his heart as far as he occupies such a high profile seat.
The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Bobie also thanked President Akufo Addo, Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Director General for NSA Prof. Peter Twumasi, and the President Ghana Olympic Committee, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah and all for their immense support before and during the elections.
Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah urged everyone to support Mr. Sampson Deen in executing his duties and accord him the necessary respect he deserves because this is one of Ghana’s high profile seats which makes it a big win for Ghana and West Africa as well.
