In congruence with Section 19 of the 2016 Sports Act (Act 934), the Bono Regional Directorate of the National Sports Authority in consultation with the Bono Regional Minister constituted and inaugurated the Bono Regional Sports Committee to be attached to the office of the Regional Co-ordinating Council.
The Regional Sports Committee was sworn into office for a four-year tenure by Honorable Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister.
Honorable Awo Banahene urged the committee to work wholeheartedly to see the promotion and development of sports in the region. She stressed that the committee should work together to co-ordinate sporting activities of the various district and municipal sports units within the region.
The seven (7)-member Sports Committee is chaired by Mr. Daniel Charles Gyimah a former banker, a former National Hockey team player and a Hockey Gold Medalist at the 1971 National Day Games.

Mr. Daniel Charles Gyimah the committee chairman in his acceptance remarks thanked the Bono Regional Minister and Sports Director on behalf of the committee for calling on them to render service to the Region for the development and promotion of sports.
“I’m happy all of us on the committee are experienced and have technical knowledge in sports development. This committee will support and push the lesser known sporting disciplines with our knowledge and resources. We’ll serve with commitment and sacrifice, it’s an honor to serve the region and nation at large.”- the committee chair stated.
