Group A – DR Congo aiming at advancing from group stage

Nicknamed The Leopards, DR Congo has made it to the continental showpiece on several occasion with their best performances in 1968 and 1974.

With head coach Florent Ibengé aiming for a good start to this year’s edition, The Leopards have proved beyond that they can go all out when it matters most.

Florent Ibengé has been in charge of the Leopards since 2014, and has had enough time to know and understand his team, that play with so much energy and technic, and they can play at a fast counter from both flanks.

Guiding the team to the 2016 African Nations Championship, coach Ibengé is high in confidence that his side will be able to sail through Group A comprising of seven time Champions and host Egypt, Zimbabwe and Uganda who have made it to the tournament on four and three times respectively.

Player to Watch: Cédric Bakambu

Bakambu having scored 23 goals out of 27 league appearances for his club Beijing Guoan, the 28 year old striker will need to make a statement for himself by taking the whole team along with his goal scoring prowess.

Haven being tasked with a huge responsibility of leading The Leopards attack, an overwhelming performance would be required from him if the team is to progress into the knock-out stage of the 24 nation tournament in Egypt from June 21 to July 19, 2019.
