Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, newly appointed Ashanti Regional (A/R) Acting (Ag.) Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) on Monday, August 30, 2021 held his first meeting with staff of the Authority at the Upper Terrace of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
The meeting which started at exactly 10am was amongst other things to officially introduce himself to the staff as the new Ag. Director of the A/R Directorate and then also, to outline his set targets for the Regional Directorate.
Mr Appiah in his initial comments thanked the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity given him and for his vision to invest in sports development in the country.
He also thanked the Director General of the NSA, Prof. Peter Twumasi for his exceptional leadership and for his effort in ensuring human resource availability at the NSA following the recruitment of about 250 new staff.
Additionally, he reserved special mention to his predecessor, Mr Edmond Appiah, the former Ag. Regional Director and the entire management of the Authority for the support and holding down the office in an appropriate manner.
Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, a former District Director of Sports at the Ghana Education Service who has rich experience as a technical person and a sports development officer assured the staff, he will work with high level of work ethics, commitment, responsibility, professionalism, dedication and also, demonstrate competence as the Regional Ag. Director in the interest of the Sports Authority.
He implored the staff to work in an earnest manner, maintain high level of discipline in their line of duty, be punctual at work and uphold the code of conduct and ethics of the Authority as he marshals the office to achieve the NSA’s long standing mandate of developing sports and achieving excellence in the country.
He finished up by revealing, he will be visiting the various departments under the Authority to mobilize all challenges relating to work at the NSA and work to address concerns to the best of his ability.
The staff on their part welcomed Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah with a warm applause after his speech and assured him that, at all times, workers will collaborate with his office in a harmonious manner.
