Winners Of 2021 National Cross-Country Event Receive Additional Prizes

Winners of the 2021 National Cross-Country event on Thursday, September 30, 2021 collected additional prizes including cash, certificates and books authored by the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi.

The National Sports Authority (NSA) on Saturday February 20, 2021 organized the cross country for the third time since 2019 and this year, Sefwi Wiaso in the Western North Region had the privilege of hosting the national competition.

About 192 male and female athletes who were drawn from all the sixteen Administrative Regions participated in the 10km event where Afful Basit from Central Region came first in the male’s category with a time of 29.44.14.

Belinda Segbobu of Upper West region also won the female’s race after clocking 35.11.

During the presentation, all the winners (Male & Female) were each given GHS 3,000 for emerging victorious. The silver medallists also got GHS 2,000 while bronze medallists received GHS 1,000 each.

Ashanti and Upper West Regions who emerged overall best for male and female divisions also received GHS 5,000.

The winners were also given certificates and books authored by Prof. Peter Twumasi, the NSA Boss.

Present at the presentation ceremony were both Deputy Director Generals of the Authority, Mr Majeed Bawa and Kwame Amponfi Jnr, as well as all the Ag. Regional Directors of NSA including Heads and Staff of the Authority.

It must be noted that, next year’s cross-country event will be held at Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
