Ashanti Region Selects Athletes For National Cross Country In February

As part of the preparation ahead of the National Cross Country scheduled for February 19, 2022 in the Eastern Region, the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the National Sports Authority (NSA), on Saturday January 22, 2022 organised its local Cross Country to select athletes who will represent the region.

Held at Baba Yara Sports stadium, the 1st chairman-Mr Suleiman Yeboah and 2nd chairman-Mr Akwesi Duodo of the Ashanti Regional Athletics Association came to grace the justifiers and made a presentation of 10 packs of bottled water including 7 packs of energy drinks to the organizers, which were given to the athletes after the competition.

The Ag. Ashanti Regional Director of NSA, Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah showed appreciation by making a presentation of a citation to the 1st chairman of the Ashanti Regional Athletics Association for his contribution to athletics.

Both males and females from various schools and institutes in the region ceased the opportunity to compete in this year’s regional event with the aim of getting selected to represent Ashanti Region at the upcoming national cross country.

For the female category, Sharifa Moro of Amankwatia JHS came first and she was followed by T. I Ahmadiya duo; Naomi Addo who got the second position and Hannah Adompaka who also finished third in the race

In the male category, the first two winners were from Amusted institute with Malan Yamputi emerging the winner, while Noah Wumboridie came second.

The third position was taken by Tampuri Bernard.

The region will now assemble the selected athletes to continue preparations for the National race with the aim of achieving excellence during the competition next month.
