The Ghana Tug of War Association ( GTOWA) is the latest Sporting Discipline to receive its probational recognition as a National Sports Association from the National Sports Authority
Presenting the probational letter, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi commended the Association for the efforts taken to attain its national status, adding, that the Sport though traditional sports, has over the years been developed and grown to gain the recognition of becoming the 50th Sports Federation in Ghana.

The NSA Boss noted that the Association can now represent the country and tasked them to take advantage of the 6-month probational period to meet the outstanding requirements.
Prof. Twumasi further commended them on their constitution and the many sporting events they have carried out targeting the grassroots.

He urged them to organize national congresses and assured them of the Authority’s willingness to offer both technical and administrative assistance whilst regulating their activities as the Sports Law demands.
Madam Rita Odei, the Deputy Public Relations Officer-NSA entreated the Association to promote the sport at the local and district levels as a recreational sports in Ghana.
Similarly, Principal Sports Development Officer-NSA, Huebert Leo Mensah explained the need for the Association to keep the Authority updated with reports and annual events during this period.

On their part, the President for the Ghana Tug of War Association (GTOWA) Mr. Emmanuel Ola Williams, reassured Prof. Twumasi on his commitment to work together with the NSA for the development of this Traditional Sports adding that his experience in active years in participating in grassroot sports would be used for the betterment of Sports.
The Vice President for the GTOWA, Mr. SB Macauley re-echoed his President’s sentiments and noted that the Game of Tug of War has a great potential to encourage mass participation in sports.
Other dignitaries present were Madam. Sarah Awuni, Mr. Daniel Johnson, Mr. Samuel Okine, and Mr. Charles Acquah all executive members of Ghana Tug of War.
