The official countdown to the 13th African Games has been duly launched by H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic at the University of Ghana.
The Games which is expected to start from 8th-23rd March, 2024 will have 54 participating African countries, 5000 Athletes, 3000 officials, 30,000 passionate fans with over 2.2 billion traditional and social media audience across the globe.
At a brief ceremony held in Accra, the Vice President applauded H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for his visionary works towards sports development and his personal intervention in resolving the impasse that threatened the hosting of the Games.
In his submission, he highlighted the major avenues of jobs created by sports, taking into consideration how sports has become a tool for comprehensive, sustainable and socio cultural economic development.
He further cautioned proper maintenance practices by managers of the stadia.
