Ghana’s Olympic Medalist Samuel Takyi Receives Hero’s Welcome Upon Arrival In Ghana

Ghanaians trooped to the Kotoka International Airport on Friday, August 13, 2021 to receive Ghana’s Black Bomber, Samuel Takyi with a hero’s welcome when he arrived in Ghana after a historic feat at the 2020 Olympic Games.

The country has been celebrating its success at the Games across the country since Samuel Takyi clinched a medal at the 2020 Olympics and it was even evident, when a lot ecstatic fans started making their way to the Kotoka International Airporthours before the arrival of Ghana’s Olympic champion with the remaining Ghanaian contingent at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The jubilant supporters cheered the entourage and Samuel Takyi, who had his Olympic medal on him on Friday evening as he arrived back in Ghana with smile and excitement written over his face.

The 20-year-old became the toast of Ghanaians when he won Ghana’s first Olympic medal at the Olympic Games in 29 years. His bronze medal in boxing, featherweight division at the 2020 global games was also Ghana’s first boxing medal in 50 years.

Takyi secured the bronze medal despite his incredible Olympic journey coming to an end in the semi-final at the hands of American Duke Ragan.

He was met at the airport with some important dignitaries including the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof Peter Twumasi who was the leader of government delegation at the Olympic Games in Japan.

Ghana’s Sports Minister, Hon Mustapha Ussif was also present at the airport to welcome the Black Bomber Whose achievement at the Olympic Games has thrown the entire nation into endless joy.

Confident Samuel Takyi spoke to the press and answered a number of questions during the short arrival ceremony in Accra.

The youngster together with the Sports minister and the NSA boss are expected to meet President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday to officially present to him, Ghana’s bronze medal at the Olympics.
